Elementary News and Updates

Well Done Again!:

How is it possible that Week 3 topped week 2? What an amazing day of Winter Enrichment. This week we added skating to our list of enrichment activities and all of our skiers were able to get to the rope tow and the larger hill. Our theater groups are preparing for their presentations and pottery, outdoor recreation and arts works are a huge success as well.

Leadership Assembly!

Our February Leadership Assembly will take place on Friday, February 20th. Due to the high school Winter Carnival, we will be hosting in the multipurpose room. It is our hope to also showcase the two theater performances from our Winter Enrichment. Please save the date and plan to attend.

Breakfast With a Loved One:

Thursday, February 12th we will be hosting breakfast with our families. Breakfast will held in the multipurpose room on the elementary side from 7:30-8:15. Families are invited to come have breakfast with their students. Pancakes, home fries, fruit, sausage, cinnamon rolls, coffee and juice are on the menu. Our Student Leadership Team will be helping to serve.

Family Engagement Night

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 19th. Our K-8 students and staff will be hosting dinner and a family engagement night "Under the Big Top". This night will be filled with games, activities, and raffles for all of our students and families. Dinner will be served prior to the event. We hope you will hold both of these dates in your calendar and plan to attend.

PTO Raffle

The PTO is looking forward to raffling off a Valentine's Day basket. Tickets are $1 for 1 or $5 for 6 and will be

sold at assembly this Friday, at Breakfast with a Loved One on 2/12, and through Venmo (Maegan-Berry-2). A winner will be drawn on 2/12 and they will reach out to arrange a pick up time.

West Windsor Camp Opportunity

Registration for Brownsville Base Camp is open! We have programming for campers entering Kindergarten-6th grade with our Explorer Program, and four weeks of camp geared towards campers entering 6th through 9th grade in our Adventurer program. Middle School Good News

January Students of the Monthwere recognized for their consistency in working with all classmates, completing proper essays, using their creative talents to enhance their projects, and persevering and improving. This week, 8th grade Social Studies students used their artistic talents to make connections to different cultures and styles of art from around the world. Students chose a piece of art that they connected with personally and made detailed drawings that were similar to the style of the artist from a specific country. Also, in our French Cultures elective class, students were also creating beautiful projects of a Paris Monument. Students were to research a major Paris attraction that keeps tourists coming to their city. Their work was beautiful and detailed.

Middle School STAR Testing - Our winter assessment has been mostly completed. We are seeing very good progress in our students' outcomes. We have another week of make-up assessments and completion of partial tests.

Coming up - MS Dance on Friday February 13th from 6:30 - 8:00 pm in the HS cafeteria. We would like to thank the PTO for supporting this event. We are requesting donations for light snacks and drinks for this event. All Mount Ascutney School District, 6th - 8th graders and home school students are invited.

NAEP Assessment - Eighth Grade Parents were sent information regarding the National Assessment of Educational Progress. The NAEP Assessment will take place on February 18th.

National Junior Honor Society - If you have any questions, see Mr. Theo Avent, NJHS Advisor. theo.avent@wsesu.net . All 8th grade students are eligible to apply.

High School News

School Board HHB Committee: We are looking for students to take part in the updating of our Hazing, Harassment, and Bullying policies and procedures. We are opening this up to all students, not just Student Council. If your student is interested, please email me at kryan@wsesu.net and out HHB committee in the subject line.

Prom 2026: Prom this year is May 16th, 2026. The theme is "Once Upon a Time, Where Everyone Gets Their Fairytale." Pictures at Saint Gaudens at 1:30. Grand March at 6:00 at Mount Ascutney Resort. Prom to follow 7:00 -10:00. Tickets are currently on sale.

Monday, Feb 9th: Bethany LaHay from the DH Workforce Development will be presenting information on the DH SUMMER INTERNSHIP PROGRAM AND APPLICATION, and other DH programs VIRTUALLY in the HUB. STUDENTS NEED TO SIGN UP FOR THIS EVENT WITH MRS. GOGAN.

Interact News:

Thursday, Feb 3rd, 23, Rotary Interact students visited the Upper Valley Haven for a day of Service Learning related to food insecurity. The student first participated in an interactive learning session about the services the Haven provides and the people who access them in the Greater Upper Valley. There was an eye-opening discussion about what needs the Haven is able to meet, other service providers, and needs that just are not being met, specifically, homeless shelters. They also played an online choose-your-own-adventure game called SPENT, which simulated the difficult choices that everyday people face when living with limited resources. After their learning session, the students alternated between touring the Haven facility and preparing food for the Haven's food pantry. The student had fun making a variety of no-bake cookies and spike packets. Over it was a very fun and educational experience for our students.

Monday, Feb 9th: TheGovernors Institute will be visiting! All 9th and 10th-grade SWARM are expected to be in room 210. 11th graders are invited if they like. (12th have aged out)

Community Dinner:

Please join us for the Windsor Community Dinner. These dinners take place the FIRST & THIRD Thursdays each month. It’s a wonderful way to meet others in your community. This is a FREE IN PERSON event. Enjoy a time of good food & conversation. Dinners are sponsored by local civic, business and faith groups. We WELCOME everyone!!

Attendance Reminder

Families are asked to notify the school when a student is going to be absent. When notification isn’t provided, these procedures are followed:

For students in kindergarten through grade 5, the family will be called to verify the absence.

For students in grades 6-12, the family will be emailed to verify the absence

If a reason for the absence is not provided, the student will be marked as absent/unexcused.
