School Handbook

The Parent/Guardian/Caregiver and Student Handbook 2026-2027carries all of our need to know information and resources. We ask that every family complete the acknowledgement of the handbook form (page 2). This includes permission and understanding of the technology acceptable use policy. Without signed understanding, students may not have access to their devices.

Elementary News and Updates

Open House

Thank you to all who attended the behavior presentation and Open House on Thursday evening. It was wonderful to see so many families visiting all the areas of our school where our students spend time during their week. Students who turned in completed punch cards are entered into a raffle. Winners will be drawn during our virtual Morning Meeting on Tuesday morning.

Comm

It is our intention to offer several opportunities for communication. Parents are encouraged to look at your child's PowerSchool grades periodically and connect with your child's teachers when you have any questions. Please use the information below to get IT support to access your parent portal. Newsletters from the school will be sent out weekly. We have regularly scheduled family engagement opportunities, and hope to see you all at community events. We look forward to sharing more with you as the school year progresses.

Linked here (link) is a document to help support the completion of the paperwork needed for school. Sharing accurate information is essential for communication throughout the year. This year all registration paperwork has moved to digital. If you need support completing this process, please reach out to the school for assistance. We are happy to help you with the completion of this important paperwork. We will also have computers available at Open House on Thursday, for people who would like to use the school computers to complete this work.

Drop Off and Pick Up:

This year our drop-off routine will remain the same as last year. Students are to be dropped of at the gate near the turf after 7:40. We will have supervision from 7:40-8:00. Breakfast begins at 7:30 and classrooms are open at 8:00. This year's dismissal time is 2:40. Across the school we have worked to align the schedule to help support families with students in elementary, middle and high school. Elementary parents are to pick up at the turf; middle and high school students are to be picked up at the back of the building. There is no parking at the Ascutney Street entrance prior to 2:35. Please be sure to follow the lane arrows. For safety, students will only be released to the lane closest to the turf.

Finding Our Stride

Hello Families of Windsor Students,

Finding Our Stride is a free after-school running program that boosts fitness, self-esteem and resilience, and connects kids to peers, mentors, and community. This fall, we will be running the program at Windsor Elementary School for grades 2 - 5 and we have spots open for interested students. Our running group meets Mondays and Wednesdays, September 9 - October 21 afterschool until 4:00 PM.

Middle School GOOD NEWS

Thank you to all of our families who have responded to the requests to complete our digital back-to- school forms. If you have not done so yet, your help in completing these (link) is much appreciated.

This week our middle school Advisory activity was a fun team building tower challenge. Small groups tried to build the highest tower with spaghetti and marshmallows. Teams were creative , thoughtful and encouraging. Congratulations to the highest tower builders, Allie, Ellie, Jude, & Braydon, in Mrs. Sykie's & Miss Coral's Advisory.

Next Week all 6th - 8th grade students will complete their first Fall STAR assessments in Math and Reading, on Tuesday and Thursday. Students have been working hard in their intervention periods to gain skills and progress in their most needed areas. We look forward to watching our students grow academically.

Arrival/Drop-off - MS Students are asked to enter and exit through the rear entrance of the building. Drop off and breakfast begins at 7:30 am, The first bell rings at 7:50 am for period 1 Advisory. Athletics - All information can be found on the Athletics page of the school website for 7th - 12th sports.

REMINDER: The WSESU Tech Team will be giving students their school issued Chromebooks once parents have acknowledged the Acceptable Use Policy (p.31) in the Family/Student Handbook by completing the handbook acknowledgement form.

High School News

WISE: WISE will be visiting High School health classes the week of September 21st, 2026. They will be discussing healthy relationships, tools of consent, long term efficacy and respectful communication. If you would like more information, please feel free to contact Mrs. Leonard.

Attention Freshman Parents: We try really hard to make sure our advisories are a place where students feel a sense of belonging and can also engage with the curriculum. We don't get freshman advisories "right" the first time around because we do not know all the kids and their interests and peer dynamics. We have a better sense now and are shifting advisories starting Monday. Please reach out to me if you have any concerns or are hoping for a change.

Seniors: Windsor High School will be hosting the SATs on October 3rd, 2026. If you would like to take the SATs, the registration deadline is September 18th, 2026. I will add the registration link below. SATs are not required for Windsor High School students, but those who are college bound may want to take them, especially if they are applying to a college that is not test optional. If this Fall date does not work for you, the link below has more testing dates and they can be taken outside of Windsor High School.
