Finding Our Stride:

Windsor students are giving back! Finding Our Stride students are having a pet food drive to benefit Lucy McKenzie! Donations of dog and cat food (both wet and dry) are being accepted and can be left in the main lobby of the school. The drive will run from May 18th through June 1st. The monetary value of donations we collect will be matched by Finding Our Stride! Thank you in advance for anything you may be able to donate.

Spring Concert:

Congratulations to our K-5 students who dazzled the audience with their performance on Tuesday evening. Ms. Wood and Mr. Stammelman work with the students all year to prepare their voices and teach stage presence, which we know is not an easy task. Their hard work and success was on full display this week. I also appreciate Ms. Molly, Mrs. Murray, Mr. Ennis, Ms. Hage, Ms. Jess and Ms. Angie for taking time to support our students in the audience.

Kindergarten Registration: This week we welcomed new families to kindergarten registration and provided them an introduction to our school. This is a collaborative effort that involves work from many of our service providers and helps support our understanding of the students who will be joining our community in the fall. Entering school is a milestone that begins their educational career. We look forward to building these working relationships and providing all that we can to these eager learners.

Middle School Good News

Congratulations to our musicians and vocalists! This past Wednesday, the middle school and high school band and choir ensembles shared their passions and talents with us. Our school community was entertained with beautiful, uplifting, and even chaotic music that showed off our students' skills.

Much appreciation for the rehearsal time, care and preparation that Ms. Wood and Mr. Stammelman have shown to our music program and our students. Thank you families for all of the support and applause you give to our talented students. We wish them well as they travel to their music competition, Music in the Parks, at Six Flags New England, at the end of the month.

This Week -Students in Ms. Springer's class finished their solar system model and hung it up in their classroom. We will look forward to more student projects about Space when 8th graders share their independent projects at our Space Showcase on June 1st.

During the ELA and Social Studies collaboration, students completed the Trial of The Outsiders. Both the prosecution and defense called witnesses to give testimony. Each team's lawyers were given the opportunity to question and cross examine witnesses. Final arguments were made and the jury deliberated and made their rulings. Congratulations to both teams for their efforts!

Sixth grade ELA classes presented their book summaries this week to their classmates. It was great to hear all the interesting questions that peers had about each other's books.

8th Grade Scheduling - Students met with the high school counselors on May 5th to talk about registering for their 9th grade courses. They were given a pink form to fill out and look over with their families. Please have your student return these so the high school counselors can work on creating their schedules for next year. WSESU Middle School Musicians - The SU music team will be taking our music students on our annual trip to Six Flags on May 29th. They will compete against other schools from around New England in the morning and spend the afternoon at the amusement park. Please reach out to Mr. Stammelman or Ms. Wood if you have any questions.
