Student Leadership Assembly:

Congratulations to our May Student Leadership Award winners for the outstanding work and collaboration they have demonstrated over the past month. There was also time to join in celebrating the learning of our third grade students as they presented some tricks for learning multiplication problems for the number 6. Well done grade 3.

Greening Up the Playground:

The student leadership team spent time on Friday "Greening Up" our playground and school yard area. In the next month they have plans to focus on improving the playground by better identifying spaces, offering a wider variety of games, posting consistent rules, and adding markings that allow the turf to be shared by several groups. This work will take time, however it is clear, the students are focused on making change.

Teacher Appreciation Week:

Next week is teacher appreciation week. The PTO has several celebrations to share with our staff. The students helped to create a collaborative bulletin board for the teachers which will be on display early next week.

Kindergarten Registration: Windsor's kindergarten registration will take place on Thursday and Friday, May 14th and 15th. During this time we welcome our upcoming kindergarten students and take time to meet and connect with families. There is no school for current kindergartners. If you have an incoming student, you should receive information from the office in the near future. Be sure to call the school with any questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you on the 14th and 15th.

Student Led Conferences: Thank you to all of the families who took time to participate in conferences just prior to our April vacation. We are pleased to report that 83% of our elementary students presented their goals and work samples to their families. This is one of the opportunities we have to build the learning partnership between families and our school.

Middle School Good News

This Week - Students work together in many classes. It was nice to see some group projects in Social Studies as students studied Asian Countries, as well as students attacking geometry problems together. See pictures below. We look forward to some outdoor learning in our school garden and outdoor classroom in the weeks to come.

Theater Performance - Congratulations to our MS Theater class! There were many "on the stage" and much "behind the scenes" work that was done to share this performance with our elementary and family audiences. Thank you to the students who put in their best efforts to show off their talents.

WSESU Middle School Musicians - The SU music team will be taking our music students on our annual trip to Six Flags on May 29th. They will compete against other schools from around New England in the morning and spend the afternoon at the amusement park. Please reach out to Mr. Stammelman or Ms. Wood if you have any questions.

Next Week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are thankful for the ways our teachers show up for our students and recognize the growth they see individually in each child. We know how important it is for every student to have a trusted adult at school to help them navigate, and every adult is some child's favorite person! Thank you to our PTO for helping us to also celebrate our teacher's next week. Feel free to pass along a note to a teacher that can make their day!

Teacher Appreciation Week

Next week, we are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week, and I wanted to take a moment to share why this is so special to us. I feel incredibly lucky to lead this building and to be surrounded by such dedicated educators. The range of experiences available at Windsor High School is truly astounding. This is because when students share their ideas, our teachers act. They form clubs, they travel with students across the country and even across the Atlantic. They consistently show up on evenings and weekends for performances, games, and academic fairs. Beyond their professional duties, they often quietly go above and beyond—purchasing prom dresses, cleats, and food for their classrooms and for students to take home. And on top of all of this, they show up every day to teach their content with passion. Next week, we are celebrating our teachers with help from our NHS, Booster Club, and local businesses. If you are feeling so inclined, please consider sending a note to your favorite teacher (or your child's favorite teacher) letting them know how much they are appreciated : )

We are very proud to announce that Ms. Becky Wood has been named April Staff of the Month in recognition of the meaningful impact she makes on her students each day. Known for her kindness and welcoming presence, Ms. Wood creates a classroom environment where students feel comfortable, respected, and ready to learn. Students consistently highlight her unwavering support, noting that she is always there for them when they need it most. Whether offering encouragement, guidance, or simply taking the time to listen, she goes above and beyond to ensure every student feels valued. Ms. Wood’s dedication to building strong relationships and supporting her students both academically and personally makes her an outstanding educator and a vital part of the school community.

Congratulations to Sophomore, Autum Reed, on earning Windsor High School's Student of the Month award for April. Autum is an extremely hardworking, energetic, and kind student. She is a joy to have in class and is constantly challenging herself to improve. Next school year, she will be attending RVTC for their Human Services program. Autum is a member of several different student organizations including Tri-M and Yearbook where she strives to affect change within her school and community. Whether she is working to improve her grades, learning to play a new piece of music on her instrument, or helping her peers, Autum takes on new tasks with vigor and determination. She has a strong sense of justice, and will stand up for anyone that she sees being treated badly, regardless of her relationship with them. Overall Autum is an outstanding member of the school and Windsor community as a whole. Congrats Autum, keep up the good work!

Scheduling: Counselors will be meeting with students one on one to begin conversations about next year's scheduling. A change to note - students will be offered or assigned a structured study based on need and course load. It may be in the HUB or in another location. This will be a credit elective with standards. SWARM will also have standards to meet AOE guidelines for Personalized Learning Plans. Both of these times will be tied to attendance and eligibility.
