Elementary News and Updates

Leadership Assembly!

Just before winter vacation we took some time to honor our February Leadership Award winners and share in a presentation from our fourth grade students. As always, we appreciate the families who shared this with us. Today we took some additional time to celebrate the hard work our students have put into their winter assessments. Yes, we are excited about the progress being shown in their scores, but perhaps more importantly, we are so very proud of their determination, perseverance and the hard work they are showing during these assessments. To reward them, we held an all school celebration that involved some whole school fun and games. We also saw performances from our K-2 and 3-5 theater groups who put together wonderful performances in a short period of time. A big shout out to Ms. Angie, Mr. Scott, Ms. O, Miss Anna and Ms. Mayfield for the time they spent preparing. Well done!

Winter Enrichment:

Yesterday we concluded an amazing Winter Enrichment program for our students. The perfect weather and diverse experiences offered to the students made for a magical opportunity. This work does not come without a great deal of coordination and planning. A BIG "thank you" to our Student Activities Committee for all the time and coordination that was given to these events. I am also very proud of our students and how they represented our school while off campus. It was common for us to return from these locations with compliments about how kind, respectful and polite our students were. Well done!

Family Engagement Night

Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 19th. Our K-8 students and staff will be hosting dinner and a family engagement night "Under the Big Top". This night will be filled with games, activities, and raffles for all of our students and families. Dinner will be served at 4:30 with activities to follow. We hope you will hold both of these dates in your calendar and plan to attend.

Ascutney Outdoors News

With more snow on the way, the T-bar and day tubing will be open this coming weekend Feb 21/22. We will also be open for Saturday night tubing from 6-8. We plan to run the T-Bar on Friday, Feb 27 during vacation week as long as there is snow.

West Windsor Camp Opportunity

Registration for Brownsville Base Camp is open! We have programming for campers entering Kindergarten-6th grade with our Explorer Program, and four weeks of camp geared towards campers entering 6th through 9th grade in our Adventurer program. We also have created a Counselor in Training (CIT) program for campers interested in developing leadership skills. Check out all of our programs: https://www.brownsvillebasecamp.org/

Middle School Good News

This week, students in social studies class acted as different branches of our government. Students worked together to think about others' perspectives and made their arguments for how different political events should move forward for the good of the country. In science class, students began a unit on fossils and learned about carbon dating, while others worked on their ancient China projects.

Next Week - Our MS students will be taking their VTCAP State Assessments. Tuesday through Thursday we will be starting with our English reading & writing assessments. We ask for your support in helping your child get a good night's sleep and fueled each day prior to their VTCAP's. We will have some high protein options for breakfast & snack here at school as well.

Tutoring is available before and after school for Math and ELA. Please reach out to Colleen DeSchamp if you are interested in this for your child.

Thank you to Mount Ascutney Outdoors for offering one more really nice day of weather and tubing for some of our Middle School students. Wednesday's weather was a great "make-up" day to our missed winter ski program, attended by Miss Springer's class. We appreciate all the volunteers at Mount Ascutney who helped to make the day a great success.

High School News

We are pleased to recognize Roxanne Sherwin as Student of the Month for February. Roxie is a Senior who has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic throughout her high school career. Roxie is thoughtful of others and exceedingly kind. Recently, she stepped up to help a friend by literally putting herself on stage with little preparation to make a meaningful opportunity possible for that friend. In the performing arts, Roxie is active in both theater and band. She has played significant roles in several plays, masterfully: Ursula in The Little Mermaid, Janice in Mean Girls, and more recently, Donna in Mama Mia. Subtle and unassuming, Roxie cinches these roles with energy and commitment. Roxie also plays the trumpet with the high school band, is the Tri-M National Music Honors Society President, and has helped to organize all of the events and fundraisers they’ve put on as a music department this year. She is a staunch advocate for the arts and is always coming up with new ideas that can bring recognition to Windsor's music and theater programs. It is with pride and appreciation that we recognize Roxanne Sherwin as Windsor High School’s Student of the Month.

We are proud to recognize Mr. Bryan Stammelman as our February Teacher of the Month! Mr. Stammelman’s dedication to his students goes far beyond the classroom curriculum — he creates an environment where students feel safe, valued, and supported every single day. Students consistently share how much they appreciate his care and commitment. One student shared, “Bryan cares about his students and provides a safe and comfortable space for all.” Another added, “He always makes time for his students. Band is one of my favorite classes because of him.” Mr. Stammelman’s passion for teaching and genuine investment in his students’ growth make a lasting impact. Whether he’s leading rehearsals, offering encouragement, or simply taking the time to listen, he ensures that every student feels seen and supported. His classroom is more than a place to learn music — it’s a place where students build confidence, creativity, and community. Congratulations, Mr. Stammelman! The students of Windsor are lucky to have you.

March Intensive: Students will check theMarch Intensive Program of Studies via the Grade Level Google Classrooms during SWARM next week. Course Selection will begin Monday, 2/9, for 11/12 during lunches. Please see the courses below. Every student is expected to take place in a March Intensive.

Prom 2026: Prom this year is May 16th, 2026. The theme is "Once Upon a Time, Where Everyone Gets Their Fairytale." Pictures at Saint Gaudens at 1:30. Grand March at 6:00 at Mount Ascutney Resort. Prom to follow 7:00 -10:00. Tickets are currently on sale.
